EF600-100 Performance

The primary purpose of the EF600-100 is to generate the cooling profile required for the cryopreservation of human embryos, in a sample plate designed to hold up to 16 x CBS high security straws. These specifications are successfully achieved

Ice nucleation using a cryopen was demonstrated to work efficiently.
The nominal linear rate of cooling of 0.3°C min from-7°C to -30°C was achieved within all straws (0.3°C min ± 2%).
The nominal linear rate of cooling of 10°C min from -30°C to -80°C was achieved within all straws (9.67°C min ± 2%).
With full plate loading (16 straws) the maximum straw to straw temperature difference was 0.65°C at the start of the cycle (20°C) increasing to a maximum of 2°C at -100°C.
The minimum temperature attained was -100°C.

When fewer than 16 straws are processed they should be positioned in the centre of the sample plate; in this case the maximum straw to straw temperature difference is reduce to below ±0.5°C at all temperatures.

The temperate profile achieved within straws was not dependent on the loading; identical results were obtained when processing 1, 8 or 16 straws

In addition to the human embryo profiles, linear profiles for the cryopreservation of human embryonic stem cells and human sperm are successfully achieved

Control of specific non-linear profiles for the cryopreservation of embryos and oocytes is also possible.
