EF600-102 Performance

The primary target profile of the EF600-102 is to cool standard cryovials at a rate of cooling of 1°C min to a final temperature of -80°C. The maximum loading of the sample plate is 55 cryovials each containing 1ml.

In testing the EF600-102 was demonstrated to achieve these targets.

A linear rate of cooling of 1°C min ± 5% was achieved within the cryovials (-20°C to -80°C).
The maximum cryovial to cryovail temperature difference was 0.75°C at the start of the cycle (4°C) increasing to a maximum of 2.25°C at -90°C.
The minimum temperature attained was below -80°C.

The target profile is achieved in a range of cryovials designs (round bottomed, star foot and skirted) supplied by various manufacturers.

Rates of cooling faster than 1°C min can be achieved in cryovials in the EF600-102, a look-up chart is provided showing the maximum volume that can be processed at a given linear cooling rate to -80°C.

In addition to linear rates of cooling, specific non-linear profiles may be programmed.
