Freeze drying

Asymptote has developed methods and equipment to control nucleation and ice crystal growth during the freeze drying process without the use of additives.  This technology dramatically reduces drying time by controlling the porosity of the frozen product.

We have found that there is a good correlation between the measured drying time in vials and the nucleation temperature:

Our freeze drying technology has been utilised in freeze dried coffee, bioproducts, pharmaceuticals and the maintenance of viability in micro-organisms. See the Gallery for images.

Our technology offers advantages for both bulk products, such as samples freeze dried in batch processes or instant beverages freeze dried on a continuous belt, and for products frozen in conventional vials.
