Asymptote supplies a nucleating tool (to ‘seed’ straws) for use with our controlled rate freezers. The cryopen is a medical device and can be used in cleanrooms. It uses cartridges of compressed N2O to reach low temperatures close to -89ºC. Samples are nucleated by placing the cryopen close to the straw and depressing the lever.
